I can help you craft and shape your stories. I wrote “The Book of Plots” a book on how to structure narratives. More than that I have helped many storytellers and spoken word artists structure performances. On any or all these levels:
- The narrative arc of where the story begins, where it ends and how we get from the start to the finish. How different plot paths work and which works for this story.
- The emotional arc of the story. What feelings do you want to convey — in the characters in the story, in the story itself and for audience sharing the experience?
- The arc of performance. Is this a stand-alone story or part of a larger piece? I can help you make either one shine

Some Highlights of Career Include:
- Told stories on the Great Wall of China, in Belfast pubs, one room schoolhouses, riot torn urban ghettos and on a blizzard stranded bus. I tell the storied life I live.
- I have been the Ringmaster of a Circus and a candidate for political office. There is little difference.
- I have taught Storytelling at Metropolitan State University since 1991 in both the Communications Department and the Theater Program. I have also taught workshops in four countries, 32 states, and enough corporations, non-profits and government agencies to have lost count.
- Performed in 15 Fringe Festivals, over 40 stage and cabaret shows as well as produced or directed 10 Fringe or stage shows for other performers. No one has died (yet) and most of them have actually made money.
- I’ve actually written two books on storytelling – “The Book of Plots” on the use of narrative and “Inviting the Wolf In – Thinking About Difficult Stories” on stories that are hard to hear and harder to tell and why doing both matters
